Professor Simon Shibli

Simon Shibli is Director of the Sport Industry Research Centre (SIRC) at Sheffield Hallam University and also a professor of Sport Management. He is a CIMA qualified management accountant whose specialist areas of interest are the finance and economics of the sport and leisure industries. Simon was a founder member of the SPLISS consortium in 2003 and has worked on numerous elite sport policy research projects for national sport agencies ever since. His main contribution to the SPLISS work is on measuring the success of nations in elite sport competition and he works closely with Infostrada Sports to produce new insights into performance data. Simon's approach is to use technical management accounting rigour and common sense, in equal measure, to deliver credible and practical solutions for clients. Recent clients include: UK Sport; Sport England, Sport Wales, Sport Northern Ireland, sportscotland, and the National Audit Office.
