Juanita Weissensteiner PhD is a Senior Consultant with the Athlete Pathways and Development section at the Australian Institute of Sport. A physiotherapist by background, Juanita is an original co-author of the FTEM (Foundation, Talent, Elite and Mastery) athlete development framework utilised by the AIS to inform the review and refinement of athlete pathways at a system and sport-specific level, and has worked directly with over 30 National Sporting Organisations. Juanita was a co-contributor for the recently published International Olympic Committee’s Consensus statement on Youth Athlete Development, and based on recognised best practice at the foundational levels, compiled the ‘Top Ten Tips for Parents’ resource featured on the AIS website, which was launched in conjunction with the Australian Sports Commission’s Sporting Schools program.
