Mr Jacco Verhaeren
National Head Coach, Australian Swimming Team (AUS)
Prior to his Australian challenge, Jacco started his coaching career in The Netherlands. From a young age Jacco knew that he wanted to be a coach. After graduation from the CIOS (Central Institute of Sports Education Leaders), he started coaching Pieter van den Hoogenband and they turned out to be a golden duo. Pieter van den Hoogenband won multiple gold medals at the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Olympics. Jacco also coached Olympic Champions Inge de Bruijn (Sydney 2000) and Ranomi Kromowidjojo (Peking 2008, London 2012). From 2006, he combined coaching with his role as Technical Director of the Royal Dutch Swimming Federation. In 2013, he stopped his coaching career in the Netherlands and focused full time on his duties as Technical Director before commencing as National Head Coach with Swimming Australia in 2014.
